Is the septic still holding up?
Wow, I have never experienced anything like that. Makes me want to run out and get flood insurance...thanks for posting the video, it does give an accurate dose of your reality. The chicks are adorable and you are a trooper!
Dani - the septic appears to be holding up - THANKS for asking!! We have the septic company coming out on Monday (or is it tuesday??) to open up the lid and see what's with all the bubbling. They're also going to look into building a "French Drain" in our backyard to see if it'll help drain out some of the water and help prevent future flooding.Kelly - if you like THAT flooding, look in my labels and click on the "natural disaster" label in the left column of my blog and then scroll down to "waterlogged", "damage done" and "faye away" for starters and just take a glimpse at the pictures. I think you'll find them interesting.
Things can sure go south in a couple of days. Sorry to hear about your overabundance of rain water and I hope there's no permanent damage.
Deja vu with the galoshes and the standing water. And yes, I too want to kick everything in the back yard to the curb. I heartily recommend the application of a sump pump - it isn't getting the water OUT of the ground, but it is getting it OFF the ground. The sum total is the same - rot and smell, etc. BUT it is helping my sanity. Yesterday, it poured cats and dogs in Jville and in 1 teensy hour my ENTIRE backyard (first time I saw flooding in some spots) was completely flooded (along with the street in front of the house + 3 grates at the intersection. The only high spot was the pool. The sump pump went to work and has almost got it all moved out to the street and the blessed gutters. I am SO glad that we no longer have septic - at least I am not worrying about that. Good luck!
