With all the chicken drama and weather woes, I find I sometimes forget to talk about the good things that happen in my garden. So here's a good thing. Real live edible vegetables. There was a couple of eggplant in this harvest too, but you'll have to imagine them since they were jammed in my back pockets while I photographed the kid with the basket. Luckily I remembered about them before sitting down.
Ta-da. Some more green beans, some tomatoes, a cucumber, and two hidden eggplants.
And this tasty little morsel. One long skinny parsnip.
And my leopard beans. Like them? I'm not sure what exactly it means when your green beans go all weird and spotty, but we put them straight into the compost after photographing them. Now all of my green beans are curled, small and weird-looking, so I'm guessing I won't get any more beans from my beanstalks. It was definitely good while it lasted.
So there you have it.
My big, fat June harvest photos! A good thing from the garden.
Looks like rust to me, but I could be wrong.
ReplyDeleteThat's one long parsnip!
Ooooooh, tomatoes, green beans and parsnips. Sounds like heaven to me.
ReplyDeleteI love your title. Hidden eggplants, HA! I've lost a few beans by putting them in my sweatshirt pockets and forgetting until I put it on next and feel rubbery things in there... A bad habit to get into hehehe.
ReplyDeleteThose beans should be your new poster child for GBDD...
I've done the same thing Momma_S has done so many times. Peas were the most recent culprit though.
ReplyDeletehaha, eggplant in your back pockets! No gardening without skills there, that is an act of a true gardener LOL! Love the parsnip, I am trying them out for the first time this year, but they have a long ways to go since they haven't germinated yet :)
ReplyDeleteI used to tuck stuff into my pockets too... until I did that with eggs and didn't remember to pull them out before bending over to untie my barn boots! You can imagine how THAT turned out, lol!
ReplyDeleteYour harvest looks great to me. We're still noshing on radishes and lettuce here :)
Congratulations. I know your kids were happy with their finds.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your harvest. It's not easy to get anything out of the garden this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I stumbled onto your blog can't wait to read more.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful haul to me. I am a super novice, wanna be
ReplyDeletegardener in South Florida. I grew a three foot tomato plant in a container that had bunches of blossoms, but no fruit. I blamed it on the heat. I guess I'll have to find a new excuse. Your garden looks great.
Harvest is looking good. I love parsnips!
ReplyDeleteWell, that shows your persistence in planting has paid off. Cool beans, well cool parsnip, anyway! ;o)
