Have you picked your snowman nose yet?

My little square foot of snowman noses seems to be coming along quite well. Although every time I think I've successfully thinned the noses I take a photo and find that there are a few who have managed to survive the slaughter and need to come out. The boys think it's hilarious that our carrot patch has been renamed "snowman noses" and they joke constantly over who's going to pick the first snowman nose. I'm not sure at what point I explain to them that we won't ever have the snowman to go along with the nose.

Remember the coconut painted like a jack-o'-lantern that my mom's friend sent to the boys for Halloween? The boys were quite attached to it and didn't want to get rid of it just because Christmas is here. But a bright orange pumpkin vibe wasn't gelling with the Christmas vibe out front. So we painted it.

He's now a snowman! And fits in perfectly with our Christmas décor outside the front door.

  2. Good one! I bet those carrots are gonna do really well for ya since your winter is pretty mild. I know the temptation to pick them is there, but don't do it!!! Wait until tey're ready....

  3. What a great idea! I will have to remember that before I throw the pumpkins out next year. We are supposed to get snow on Saturday, but after a Christmas in Minnesota last year, the kids are going to be disappointed to find out that snow here in VA just flies around the air and doesn't accumulate on the ground!

  4. What an adorable moniker for your carrots! Almost makes me want to plant some just to pass along the name to my kids. :)

  5. You're making perfect lemonade out of your weather lemons with that snowman. Maybe a nose could "visit" him?

I have trouble thinning my carrots too.

  6. Hello, my funny Florida blogger. I haven't had time to read blogs lately and have missed visiting here.

Every kid should have a mom like you. You are making amazing memories for those boys. I'll never look at a carrot again without thinking.....snowman nose!

  7. I'm afraid I can't pick my snowman's nose, as my patch of noses could barely be called zits....that means I'll be picking my snowman's zits (ugh).

  8. My noses aka carrot were miniatures. As in maybe 2 inches at most after staying in the ground for a REALLY long time. I'm new to this gardening thing :)
