Quote of the Moment
"There is no gardening without humility. Nature is constantly sending even its oldest scholars to the bottom of the class for some egregious blunder." ~Alfred Austin, 1951
Thanks for that! I had a rough morning getting tired kids ready and when I finally sat down with my coffee I find this! Lifted my mood, made me smile, now I am ready to start my day :)
Don't know how you came up with the idea to feed spaghetti worms to the chickens, but I'm glad you did. Very fun to watch. And...your blonde, curly-haired child could not be any cuter. What a good life your children are living.
We're a family of four living in semi-rural Central Florida (Zone 9b) with a brand new square foot garden. We used to have a 468 square foot vegetable garden, but it was a wash out - literally. I'm Kate and I have a devastating case of black thumb. We had originally planned on growing a magnificent vegetable garden so we could rely less on the grocery store produce aisle and more on ourselves, but so far the green thumb remains elusive. We'll continue to plant with the hopes that eventually we'll learn enough to make this unskilled gardening gig worthwhile. Until then this blog will feature a mix of gardening exploits, kid crafts & learning, living green, raising a small flock of urban chickens, and life in Central Florida.

I'm not sure which is funnier, your sweet little one or the chickens!

That was pretty funny, Kate!
I'd say both were equally funny.. ;)
Ok.. I know the BR and the Buff.. What is the red one? Looks like a Rhode Island Red?
Aww - glad you liked it! Those chickens are definitely easy entertainment.
Scott - the red bird is an Easter Egger.
HA! Who needs cats anyway when you've got chickens.
Too cute.
That was too funny. I wonder if they think they hit the mother load of extra long worms.
do your chickens fly? it seems like it would be a lot easier than hopping for noodles??
Ah.. I see that now.. Totally missed the green legs.
