Wellies - English word for Galoshes. Named after the Duke of Wellington, who was a strapping chap with a thing for knee-high rubber boots.

Quote of the Moment
"There is no gardening without humility. Nature is constantly sending even its oldest scholars to the bottom of the class for some egregious blunder." ~Alfred Austin, 1951
Kate, you break me up....I just spewed coffee all over my keyboard. It seems I'm always laughing at your expense! I do hope you and the crew are feeling better soon.
We seem to have turned a corner and have recovered from this thing. I was definitely dragged into the bowels of hell and swished around for a bit this weekend.
'Tis nice to be back in the land of the living for all of us!
We're a family of four living in semi-rural Central Florida (Zone 9b) with a brand new square foot garden. We used to have a 468 square foot vegetable garden, but it was a wash out - literally. I'm Kate and I have a devastating case of black thumb. We had originally planned on growing a magnificent vegetable garden so we could rely less on the grocery store produce aisle and more on ourselves, but so far the green thumb remains elusive. We'll continue to plant with the hopes that eventually we'll learn enough to make this unskilled gardening gig worthwhile. Until then this blog will feature a mix of gardening exploits, kid crafts & learning, living green, raising a small flock of urban chickens, and life in Central Florida.

OH NO!!!! I was wondering if you all would get it from the little one. I'm so, so sorry.

I didn't think mothers were allowed to get the stomach flu or any other kind of sickness. Get well. Stay well.
Just checking back in... hope you're doing better this morning.
Feel better soon!
Thanks for the kind words!
